Director of community engagement and content at Brooklyn United Academy
Education:
Bachelors degree in exercise science and minor in graphic design that I secured whilst on a football scholarship in the US
Work experience and key projects:
Within the sporting world I spent 4 years at my local county FA, after a 2 month travelling trip I secured a job at The Football Foundation supporting thousands of clubs across England with grant support towards facilities, equipment and ensuring the user experience was inclusive. After 2 years there, an opportunity to return stateside became available, so made the move to Brooklyn, NY to join Brooklyn United Academy, initially as a Technical Director for 9v9 girls program but now transitioned into my current role of content and community engagement- ensuring we provide the best experience, on and off the pitch for families and coaches involved in the club
Professional achievements:
Securing my UEFA B license, being recognised by three network and Chelsea FC as part of there #WeSeeYou network season 1,
being chosen as an Inspiring Role Model at The FA Recognition Awards in 2024, landing my role in New York and continuing to positively impact and push for growth and change in the women’s game.
A brief note on why you work in sports, or what brought you into the industry
Always played sports from an extremely young age and knew in my career I never wanted to work a day in my life – so chose to pursue a career in a field I loved – football. The landscape for women in the game is rapidly changing and I want to ensure I’m working to continue to push and challenge that. Ensuring the next generations of young girls with an interest in sports can see roles, whether on or off the field of play, and know its what’s possible for them, not simply as a passion project, but a well paid, long term career opportunity
What you would like to contribute to or change in the sports industry?
Provide inspiration for young people to see what’s possible, and challenge what’s not – until it is. I want women to feel represented from top to bottom in board rooms and front to back on fields of play. I hope the space is better, with more visibility when I leave it than when I started in it.
