– Why do you work in sports/ what brought you into the industry: After successfully achieving my goals as an athlete, I saw the potential to give children even more opportunities than I once had. I understood the challenges that exist in Kazakhstani sports, educated myself, and gradually built strategies to avoid repeating those issues in the management of my own projects.
– What would you like to contribute to or change in the sports industry: I would like to see more educational opportunities for beginner strength and conditioning coaches. I want to dedicate more attention to inclusion in sports and its accessibility in Almaty and other regions. I aim to expand the understanding of sponsorship and marketing in Kazakhstani sports.
But most of all, I want to change the deep-rooted sexism in the industry – and to redefine what it means to be a “specialist” in sports. There are too many outdated stereotypes, from age to gender.
